About the genus · Othonna

Othonna is a genus of approximately 90 species of succulent or subsucculent perennial herbs or shrubs, with its center of diversity in the Greater Cape Floristic Region (GCFR) of South Africa but some species' ranges include southern Namibia, Angola, and Zimbabwe. The genus was established by Linnaeus in 1753 containing 14 species, however, of those original species, only four are still retained in Othonna, while the others have been transferred to different genera including Cineraria, Euryops, Hertia, Ligularia, Senecio, and Tephroseris. The genus Othonnna is known to be monophyletic. More on Wikipedia ›

Cultivation

Grouped as a cactus or succulent by the genus Othonna, which is reliably one kind of plant (archetype table). The table holds no figure for this group, which spans too much for one minimum, and no habitat climate is derived yet; no cold floor is given, and no prose comes from the table.

Nothing derived: no habitat climate for this species, and the archetype table has no figure for its genus or family.

Climate across the habitat

No habitat climate can be derived: Only 1 distinct land cell of the climate grid holds an in-range record; three are needed for an envelope.

Natural habitat

Native range as published by WCVP.
Openly licensed records inside the range, framed on where they fall.

Evidence usedThe map marker rests on all 1 georeferenced record inside the native range, all openly licensed and shown on the map. Under a dozen records: treat the map as indicative. No climate envelope is derived for this species.
